Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai is well-known for sporting bold looks at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and this year, she certainly made no exception.

Opting for a daring gown by Jean-Louis Sabaji, the actor turned heads on the red carpet but we are not sure if it was for the right reasons.

The metallic golden-yellow piece Aish wore seriously looks like it's from out of space. While the dress hugged her in all the right places showing off her toned hour-glass figure, surely she had to have had were better options than this?

The only redeeming factor was that the makeup and hair was nice. The green-eyed beauty opted for tones that matched the outfit: Metallic yellow eyeshadow, bold eye liner, nude lips and loads of highlighter made her glow.

Aish's hair was parted to the side, gelled back and styled poker straight.

From Mahira to Aishwarya: What can stars learn their previous Cannes Film Festival looks?

This was certainly a safe bet compared to Aish's previous makeup choices. Who can forget that matte purple lipstick from Cannes 2016 that made the former Miss World look washed out? If only she had opted for a pinky-nude lip colour instead with that pretty Rami Kadi gown!

Then there was the purple 'butterfly' dress from last year.  Aishwarya really seems to love the colour but it would be better in a more subtle way.

If we can go back to 2015,  the actor stunned in this deep red flamenco-style dress by Oscar de la Renta. The loose hair, smokey eyes and red lipstick really tied together perfectly.

While we appreciate Aishwarya's willingness to experiment and be bold, we wish she opted for something more classy for this year.
