'He used to target people to spread terror in Mardan district'

MARDAN: The Mardan police have claimed to have killed a suspected militant and extortionist early on Sunday, recovering a handgun from his possession.

Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Mardan District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Khan said that suspected militant and target killer Alamgir Khan was wanted in a number of target killing cases while he was also a proclaimed offender in extortion cases.

“He used to target people to spread terror in Mardan district and was wanted by the police in a number of extortion, murder and target killing cases,” the DPO stated.

“In the holy month of Ramazan he used to target innocent people in the community, while his brother is also known for carrying out militant activities in the district,” Sajjad added, noting that the bothers hailed from the Bakri banda area of the district.
