Blast injures 19 in Sadiqabad

The incident occurred at a building near a petrol pump on LP Road.

LAHORE: At least 19 people suffered injuries in a mysterious blast targeting a private bank in Sadiqabad on Thursday.

The incident occurred at a building near a petrol pump on LP Road.

Police said the people in the area were busy with their daily work when the surrounding resonated with a deafening sound. It was followed by screams and dust clouds. Locals rushed to the spot and informed the police.

Rescue teams and the police reached the site, cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to Sheikh Zayed Hospital. Senior officers, including RPO Bahawalpur, DPO Rahim Yar Khan, Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan also reached the spot.

The blast severely damaged the building and also destroyed a few vehicles. Passersby and the bank staff also suffered injuries.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan Umar Salamat said that Bomb Disposal Squad and other forensic experts have collected evidence. However, the nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.
