RAWALPINDI:
Even though the Rs570 million project to upgrade and revamp the Cantonment General Hospital was completed last year, the hospital has yet to receive all the electro-medical equipment it required. The equipment which arrived cannot be operated because no training has been offered to staff. A computerised tomography (CT) scan machine has been gathering dust because no trained staff is available to operate it. Similarly, the boiler room, pathology lab, radiology department and five operation theatres are also not operating at full capacity for the same reason.  However, the 500-bed hospital has been limited to 150 beds since its re-start due to a lack of resources.
