4,488 prisoners get remission

The prisoners, san three times prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, benefited from 60 days remission in punishment

LAHORE: As many as 4,488 prisoners, san three times prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, benefited from 60 days remission in punishment. The government of Punjab issued orders on May 4 while Nawaz was on bail. Nawaz Sharif was sent to jail again on May 7. The special remission also excluded those convicted for murder, rape, terrorism, espionage and anti-state activities. About 49 prisoners were freed after completion of their imprisonment. In Lahore region, 952 prisoners got benefitted and five were released. In Sahiwal region, 401 got the benefit and six were released. In Rawalpindi region, 1464 inmates got the benefit and 14 were released. In Faisalabad region 442 got relief and three were released. In Sargodha region, 663 benefitted and five were released. In Multan region, 357 benefitted and 10 were released and in Bahawalpur region, 239 benefited and six were released after completion of their punishment.
