LAHORE:
Lahore Police chalked out a security plan to ensure the safety of polio workers during the vaccination campaign which begun on Monday in 94 union councils in the city. The polio campaign will last until May 19.

Earlier, a nationwide polio campaign had to be called off after a surge in attacks on polio teams. A police official and a female polio worker were killed during the attacks.

The security plan was finalised by Lahore SSP Operations Ismaeelur Rehman Kharak who chaired a meeting reviewing security arrangements at the DIG Operations office on Monday.

According to the security plan one SP, 2 DSPs, 6 inspectors, 59 upper subordinates and 900 constables will be on duty to provide security during the polio drive.

Moreover, as many as 332 motorcycles and 59 vehicles from local police stations will be used for patrolling purposes.
