Bugti’s grandson killed at a party

KARACHI/QUETTA:

Taleh, the 20-something grandson of the late Nawab Akbar Bugti, was shot dead at a party with four other people in Karachi late Saturday night.

Gizri police said Taleh was attending a party by Arif Raajar. Taleh’s guards were outside. Details are sketchy on the nature of the fight, but according to most versions, it was over gatecrashers. One man, said to be Raajar’s friend Dr M Iqbal, fired his weapon in the air to prevent men from entering. At the end of the ensuing shoot-out, Taleh, two waiters Mark Joseph and Kamran Shafee, and Kamran Gul were shot dead and nine others were injured.

Gizri DSP Zameer Abbasi said FIR No 192/11 with Sections 302/34, was lodged by the State as no one came forward. Nine people have been apprehended. However, none of them included Bugti’s guards or Raajar. Only one 9mm pistol was seized.

Dr M Iqbal and Raajar are said to be close to Pir Pagaro’s Pakistan Muslim League-F. A PML-F official denied that they had links with the party.

Taleh was the second son of the late Nawabzada Saleem Bugti. According to family, he was married four years ago and had two young daughters. “He had no enmities. I can only say that it was the wrong thing to happen at the wrong time,” said Nawabzada Jamil Bugti.
