Twitter is busy reflecting on the superhero flick that smashed box office records in a particularly heartfelt way, this time. A Twitter thread has explained how a Muslim man indirectly saved the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), garnering more than 20,000 retweets at the time of writing, reported The Independent.
Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man, made the ultimate sacrifice to defeat super villain Thanos by snapping his fingers and dying due to the high energy reaction from the powerful Infinity Gauntlet.
Iron Man is a widely-loved tech superhero who kick-started the MCU back in 2008 with his debut film.
Back then, Stark was captured in Afghanistan by a terrorist coterie called the Ten Rings. He meets and befriends a fellow prisoner while captured by the group - a doctor called Yinsen.
Robert Downey Jr reportedly took home $75 million for Avenger's franchise
The latter saves the ingenious scientist's life early in their friendship by placing the iconic electromagnetic implant in his chest, which stops bits of shrapnel from reaching the Stark's heart.
As the duo hatch a plan to escape their captors, IronMan builds his first suit. However, Yinsen ends up getting murdered by the terrorist syndicate.
This might have just seemed like a small character performing an act of heroism in order to save another but Twitter user and Marvel fan @malihaness points out Yinsen's character played a pivotal role in saving the world. It was, in fact, the selfless act of the Muslim man in 2008 that saved the man who would go on to save the entire planet in 2023.
Putting fourth a passionate and emotional Twitter thread, the fan begins by quoting the Quran: "And whoever saves one, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely."

And without realizing the MCU manifested the most heroic act a Muslim could do, saving Tony Starks life that one day on May 2, 2008, Ho Yinsen indirectly ends up saving the whole universe in 2023. pic.twitter.com/ZSoyOjJvad
Yinsen led by example of Islam in terms of seeing the best in people. He knew Starks military involvement in foreign soil was the whole reason that he was in a terrorist camp, also likely why he lost his whole family yet he still spoke to Tony with respect.

He spoke to the side of Tony that wanted good for humanity. He patiently educated him on the what/where his weapons have been going and used for. He looks over Tony's mistakes.

"Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; But turn away from the ignorant"(Quran7:199)
So not only is this an amazing portrayal of a Muslim that isn't simply wearing a tasbeeh or reading the Quran but rather a real Muslim who was an embodiment of the Quran. A person whose actions inspired and changed THE TONY STARK and thereby impacted the Universe. pic.twitter.com/MeiSdWbD9p

I'm not muslim, but this whole thread was beautiful❤

Thank you for this thread, I have always thought that Yinsen is one of the most under appreciated Marvel characters, the scene you have pictured might not be the most emotional scene in the MCU, but it is certainly the most grounded.

Cheers to you.
I never thought I'd say "read this Quranic interpretation of Tony Stark's character arc" but maybe read this Quranic interpretation of Tony Stark's character arc. https://t.co/5Me2Ih4L2z

Despite its success, Marvel is also criticised for its lack of diversity and progression. The franchise has only included female and black lead characters in its films over the last couple of year and done a little for LGBT+ representation.
Back in 2008, they attempted to include Muslims in roles other than terrorists and comedy characters. What's even more exciting is that Marvel teased fans in 2018 by saying they have intentions to introduce a Muslim superhero into the MCU.
What do you think of this Twitter thread? Did this Muslim character really save the world by saving Tony Stark?
