He made the remarks while interacting with a 20-member delegation of the British Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) on Thursday.
President Masood said there is a dire need to initiate trilateral dialogue between Islamabad, New Delhi and AJK leaders to resolve the longstanding issue in a peaceful manner.
The British delegation, headed by Maj-Gen (retd) JC Larence (Craige), called on the AJK president at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Muzaffarabad.
The government has always wanted a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue via dialogue, the president said.
He, however, said that New Delhi had never taken peace overtures seriously. "They [India] instead have chosen genocidal tactics in India occupied Kashmir."
According to the AJK president, Indian unprovoked shelling on civilian population along the Line of Control (LoC) is detrimental to peace efforts.

“It is high time for the United Nations, United States, United Kingdom and other influential members of the international community to explore a viable solution to the conflict of Kashmir and to ensure peace and stability in the region,” he added.
President Masood also said that a recent report of the UN Commission for Human Rights on Kashmir followed by a similar report compiled by All Parties Parliamentary Kashmir Group reflects that the world is now realising the gravity of the unresolved Kashmir dispute.
He added that another report on the state of human rights in Kashmir is being compiled by a committee of European Parliament.
