RAWALPINDI: The revenue department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has turned delinquent towards its duties. A number of files have been closed on the pretext of controversial boundaries between the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The department has to collect some Rs520 million from residential and commercial properties from different areas in Sector 6. Similarly, the department has to collect millions of rupees from shopping plazas located along Bank Road and Saddar Bazaar. The RCB is facing a severe financial crisis and is facing difficulties to pay for salaries, utility bills and other expenses. The board is yet to clear dues of contractors which it has been paying in instalments. However, the performance of the revenue department is damaging the financial discipline when the department only issues notices and does not take action against defaulters despite clear orders from RCB Executive Officer Sibtain Raza.
