ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has fined 197,260 public service vehicles (PSVs) for not completing their prescribed routes, overloading and misbehaving with passengers.

“Strict action will be taken against those transporters violating traffic routes. The purpose is to provide better traffic facilities to the citizen,” said Traffic -Senior Superintendent of Police Farrukh Rasheed on Wednesday while reviewing the special report submitted by the special squads constituted for checking route completion.

ITP not only issues traffic violation tickets to the PSVs for overcharging, misbehaviour of driver/conductor but also cancels the driving license of the PSVs drivers who are repeatedly involved in the same violation. He said that a total of 60,303 trucks, 15,228 buses, 40,588 Suzuki pick-ups, 45,208 passenger vans, 7,674 cabs and 28,259 other PSVs have been fined during the ongoing year.
