Pakistan Army finished on top at the 12th National Swimming Championship after clinching a total of 35 gold medals in the men and women’s categories.
Army were followed by Wapda in second place after the conclusion of the third round of the championship that was held at the Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad.
In the women’s open event, Army won 19 gold, seven silver and four bronze medals while bagging 16 gold, nine silver and six bronze in the men’s category.
While Sindh finished second in the women’s championship with 10 silver and 11 bronze medals followed by Wapda, who clinched two silver and four bronze medals, it was the departmental team that ended second in the men’s event with a total of three gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals.
Army’s players also clinched the individual awards after Israr Hussain was declared the best male swimmer with Kiran Khan being named the best swimmer in the women’s category.
