LARKANA: A shutter down strike was observed in Naundero on Tuesday against Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) for the prolonged power load shedding in the month of Ramazan.

The shopkeepers shut down their businesses since morning to show solidarity with the protesting Shehri Action Committee and other political and social organisations.

Power restoration underway after massive breakdown

The citizens marched towards the Sepco office where they burnt tyres, shouted slogans and held a protest demonstration. They demanded an end to detection bills and power outages in Ramazan and the replacement of burnt Pole Mounted Transformers (PMTs).

The protesters said that areas where influential people lived were being provided smooth power supply while prolonged hours of load shedding were observed in majority of the city.

They said that electricity theft could not be done without the support of local Sepco officials but they have never been questioned.
