The campaign #MonthOfGood is calling on the global community and not just Muslims to celebrate and share kindness on Instagram’s platform.
Facebook to merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger
"Instagram is a diverse, global community and Ramazan is one of the biggest cultural moments celebrated on the platform. Our data shows that Ramazan is a time when people come to Instagram to share their moments of kindness and good deeds - with words associated with charity increasing significantly," said Samer Jamal, Strategic Partner Manager, MENA at Instagram at the launch of the campaign according to Khaleej Times.
To coincide with the campaign, Instagram is also launching for the first time ever it’s Ramazan camera effect, Lantern. This is to encourage the members of Instagram to share their Ramazan celebrations in a creative way.
The Lantern effect features a subtle bokeh and crescent shapes inspired by the ornamental Arabesque style. The shapes and textures are traditionally connected with Ramazan.
Instagram moves into e-commerce with shopping button
The effect is multi-layers. The users will have to tap the screen to move to the crescent design effect and then choose between English or Arabic Ramadan greetings that will go with along with their picture.
Instagram is encouraging the users to use the new camera effect and use the hashtag #MonthOfGood so it can reach a wider audience.
The new update features this effect and if you can't see it yet, you might want to upgrade to the latest version of the app.
