Sindh Health commission discusses expediting registration process

KARACHI: The third meeting of the technical advisory committee of Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) was held on Saturday where experts reviewed the registration process of healthcare establishments (HCEs) in Sindh.

The meeting was attended by Pharmacy Council of Pakistan Vice President Dr AQ Javed Iqbal, National Centre of Homoeopathic Consultants(NCHC) representative Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC)Psychiatry Professor Iqbal Afridi, Ziauddin University Dean Dr Abbas Jaffar, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Additional Director Dr Najam and others.

The meeting discussed expediting the registration process by involving electronic media and other sister organisations. It was decided that the complaint form needs to be easily available for the complainant.

Sindh Health Care Commission becomes temporarily non-functional

The meeting also discussed that one member from DRAP may be appointed as a permanent member in the SHCC inspection team so that the team could take immediate action if expired medicine are found in pharmacies of HCEs.

Meanwhile the SHCC directorate of anti-quackery sealed 49 clinics in Larkana being run by quacks and issued warning to 25 other clinics, while anti-quackery director also met Sindh health secretary to devise a future strategy to deal with the current situation of spread of HIV cases in Larkana.

Directorate of Licensing and Accreditation received 128 new applications for registration, and certificates were issued to 97 HCEs this week bringing total number of registration certificates issued to 4,511. The team also conducted inspection of Ziauddin Hospital and Dow Dental College last week.
