Weekly Inflation: SPI falls 0.25%

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended May 2, 2019 registered a decline of 0.25% for the combined income group, going down from 252.09 points in the prior week to 251.47 in the week under review. However, the SPI for the combined income group surged 12.38% compared to the corresponding week of previous year. The SPI for the lowest income group also decreased 0.21% compared to the previous week. The index for the group stood at 230.67 points against 231.15 in the previous week, according to provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). During the week, average prices of 18 items rose in a selected basket of goods, prices of eight items fell and rates of remaining 27 goods recorded no change.
