ISLAMABAD: A widowed mother-of-four, who supports her family by selling vegetables on the street, has been gifted a house of her own by UAE's ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi.

The envoy handed over the keys of the residence to Yasmeen on Saturday.

She set up a vegetable stall on Margalla Road six years back to support her children. A few days back, the UAE ambassador's vehicle crossed by her stall and the woman's grit impressed the envoy.

Yasmeen added that the ambassador asked her how many children she had and what compelled her to sell vegetables on the street.

"He then came to give me the surprise of my life days later with a fully furnished house," she said.

Yasmeen said that she is now at peace as her orphaned children would be able to sleep comfortably with a roof over their heads.

In a similar incident on March 18, Prime Minister Imran Khan responded to an appeal made by an old, homeless woman in the same city.

The country's premier had promised due arrangements for a proper shelter to be provided to the destitute lady.

The premier had also talked to the woman on video call after her plea went viral over social media  in a video clip.
