SUKKUR: In order to prevent damage caused by floods along the river, it was decided to remove illegal encroachments between the Sukkur and Guddu barrages. This was decided at a meeting presided over by the Sukkur Commander Rangers. “Embankments are being repaired but miscreants are causing trouble. To ensure that the embankments are repaired on time, Rangers and other law enforcement agents will use a monitoring cell,” he said. They also decided to remove embankments in katcha areas owned by influential people. “If we have to, we will ask the Sindh government’s permission to go ahead and do so,” he added.
