Table Tennis: China beats World Team for men’s title

China claims the men’s crown at an international table tennis competition.

SHANGHAI: China claimed the men’s crown at an international table tennis competition, while the women went down to their foreign rivals for the first time in the event’s three-year history. China’s Ma Long, Xu Xin and Ma Lin trounced their World Team rivals from Germany, Japan and Seoul 4-1 in a team challenge in Shanghai. The World Team women’s 3-2 victory – spearheaded by Singapore’s Feng Tianwei and Hong Kong’s Tie Yana – marked the first time China had lost.
