Pakistan beat Uzbekistan 44-13 in Asian Rugby

Next match will take place on May 1 in Lahore

KARACHI: Pakistan defeated visitors Uzbekistan 44-13 in their first of the two Test series of the 2019 Asia Rugby Championship Div III-C encounter in Lahore on Sunday.

The Uzbek were leading 13-10 despite Pakistan taking the lead in the 13th minute through Nasir Mehmood's try, while Khalid Mehmood scored five more points on try as they led 10-0, but Uzbekistan replied through scoring three points on penalty taken by Ruslan Matkurnanov in the 28th minute.

Meanwhile, Bakhitiyor Sirojiddinov scored five points on a try to edge closer to Pakistan in the 45th minute and Okhunjou Jumaev wrapped up the score of the first half with his try.

However, the hosts made no mistakes in holding Uzbekistan in the second half as Nasir scored for the second time in the match to help the team to 20-13 after his try.

Muhammad Ali, Shahid Ali, Daud Gilll, Muhammad Haroon, and Wasim then went on to contribute to the score line, collecting five points each on try.

Kashif Khwaja scored two points on conversion twice during the second half.

The match was decided in over-time, according to the Asia Rugby website.

The teams will be playing second match on May 1.
