Arjun Kapoor says Malaika is 'very special' but 'in no hurry to get married'

Actors, girlfriend Malaika Arora are taking their own sweet time

It looks like Arjun Kapoor has given what seems like his most definitive statement yet on his rumoured wedding with girlfriend Malaika Arora. Reacting to strong speculation that the two are considering tying the knot, the 2 States star has simply declared, “I am in no hurry to get married,” reported India Today.

It was previously reported that Kapoor and Arora would be getting married on April 19, 2019. Details of the ceremonies, the wedding guest list and catering had also been shared on some portals. But that, clearly, did not happen.

But Kapoor, in a new interview with DNA India, was asked if he was now getting married in June. To this, he replied, “No, I am not. I’m 33 and you have to take my word when I say that I’m in no hurry to get married.”

Asked about the constant speculation surrounding his relationship with Arora, the actor added, “The subject of my wedding is not something that I would like to talk about. Frankly, if I was tying the knot, people would know about it.”

He continued, “Today, nothing stays or needs to be hidden beyond a point. Speculation is harmless. But I admit, I don’t like to respond to it all the time. Also, it gets tiring for the people involved to constantly react. There has been so much gossip on this subject that even the people who earlier tended to believe it are no longer doing so. But I don’t have anything against anyone.”

Whilst admitting that Arora is very “special” to him, Kapoor said he had “nothing to discuss, and nothing to hide.” He said, “What the world is seeing, they are seeing. However, I have no desire to justify my personal life beyond a point. It is important to have good people around me and I feel fortunate that I have such individuals in my life.”

In March, Kapoor had said that an announcement would be made if there was anything worth announcing with regards to his love life. “When there is something to talk about, you will all know,” he had told IANS. Arora, meanwhile, had rubbished reports of the wedding. “There is no truth to these silly speculations,” Bombay Times quoted her as saying.

Nonetheless, the Bollywood it-couple are frequently spotted together in public. Dating rumours first began last year, when they were photographed holding hands in Milan. They recently went on a vacation to the Maldives together as well and shared pictures on social media so one can conclude that their relationship is finally out in the open.

Kapoor is currently filming director Ashutosh Gowarikar’s period epic, Panipat. He will next be seen in the thriller India’s Most Wanted before that.
