Residents of the federal capital were provided with a rare treat after Spanish flamenco dancer Alba Heredia — from the famed flamenco dynasty of Maya performed at a local hotel on Friday.

The performance had been organised by the Spanish Embassy in collaboration with a local hotel as part of a fundraising event.

The award-winning dancer, who started when she was just four-years-old, performed alongside her group included cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dance), jaleo (vocalizations and chorus clapping), palmas (handclapping) and pitos (finger snapping).

The graceful and mesmerizing performance left the audience spellbound. Heredia effortlessly glided across the stage as she smoothly pirouetted in a solo performance.

Earlier, Spain’s Ambassador Manuel Duran Gilmour Rico said that the event was “a showcase of how performing arts can help promote and support the most valuable of causes.”

“This fundraising event is our contribution to support education initiatives in favour of those in need,” Rico said.
