RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have tracked down a group of gangsters who were allegedly involved in the murder of a ninth grader during an armed snatching. Moreover, three suspected murderers have also been apprehended along with seven suspects and Rs400,000 in cash, a car, five motorbikes, five mobile phones, guns — including the murder weapon — were recovered.

This was disclosed by the Saddar Division SP Mazhar Iqbal on Friday while addressing a news conference. He was flanked by Saddar DSP Farhan Aslam and Saddar Beroni SHO Inspector Nasir Jamal.

They said that a four-member gang headed by Taimur alias Tera, were involved in a number of criminal incidents, including the murder of ninth grade student Ilm Hasnat while attempting to snatch his motorbike.

The police officers said that they had managed to arrest Taimur, along with Ibrahim Khan, Ali Inam alias Mani and Azam Khan. Moreover, they recovered Rs400,000 in cash, five mobile phones, five motorbikes, a car and the murder weapon. The suspects, he claimed, have allegedly told the police that they are involved in more than 12 robberies.

Iqbal said that the Saddar Beroni police have also traced a suspect involved in the murder of showroom owner Tahir Abbas. The business owner was allegedly killed after a minor heated exchange in which profanities were used.

Police said that they arrested Wasim and two others who were employees of the deceased. They added that they have also recovered the murder weapon.

Asked about the Rs25 million robbery from an armoured vehicle involving a money exchanger in Rawat the other day, he said that the incident is being investigated from all angles.
