ISLAMABAD:

Hygienic environment is essential in providing speedy recovery to patients; however the littered lawns of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) present an entirely different picture.

Patients and their attendants are seen lying in the big lawns, amid wrappers, empty juice and milk cartons. No one comes to pick the mess up.

Pims has no designated waiting or resting area So they camp outside in the lawns instead.

An official in the hospital administration said sanitary workers do no perform their duties due to lack of vigilance and monitoring. He alleged that an international organisation had provided funds and space to construct waiting rooms  which was used by the senior administration for their own offices.
