LAHORE: PML-N Central spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has claimed that her party has created history as the bill tabled by it for the creation of Bahawalpur, South Punjab and Hazara provinces was now one step closer to becoming reality.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has forwarded the PML-N bill for the creation of Bahawalpur, South Punjab and Hazara Provinces to the relevant standing committee in parliament.

The bill has thus entered the first phase of the decisive legislative process expected to lead to the creation of the new provinces.

It was presented in the National Assembly by PML-N members Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahsan Iqbal, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Muhammad Sajjad and Afreen Khan.

Congratulating those favouring the creation of the new provinces, Marriyum Aurangzeb called it a historic day for the country. She said that the PML-N had made history while other political parties had only paid lip service to the issue and used it for political mileage.

She also claimed that PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif had been the only political leaders to have fulfilled all their promises to the people.

She further claimed that Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz and PML-N senior central leader Ahsan Iqbal had formally invited the government to join in on the crucial initiative to implement a long-standing demand of the people of Pakistan but the PTI government had chosen not to do so.

She said that the PTI had promised the creation of a South Punjab province throughout the election campaign but, like all its other promises, had violated it after coming to power.

The former information minister further said that the people of Bahawalpur, South Punjab and Hazara have understood which political party is truly sincere and devoted to their cause and which ones have been using them as an election prop.

Marriyum Aurangzeb vowed that the PML-N will not rest until the bill becomes law and the wishes of the people of these areas come true.
