LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the Pakistan Housing Scheme inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Quetta on Sunday was planned by party President Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement issued by the PML-N Head Office, the spokesperson said, “We congratulate the government for extending the housing project planned by Shehbaz Sharif to Balochistan.”

Aurangzeb said, “Imran Khan’s language and incompetence will not allow his government to stay for long.”

She said the policies of the government were insubstantial and that its people were like “empty vessels making a lot of noise”.

“When was your government seen as standing on its feet that you fear its demise. The rhetoric of calling everyone a thief is no longer working as people need jobs and shelters to live in. Put all of us in jails but make sure every man in Pakistan has bread on his table,” said Aurangzeb.

During the past 20 years, she said, Imran was only vocal on the issues as he “is so incompetent that he could not solve even a single issue during his nine months” in office.

“A captain with a rented team and lacking vision, policy and planning can only create a fuss,” said Aurangzeb. “In the beginning of his speech, Imran claimed that he would tell a magic trick through which country’s debt can be settled. However, he made no mention of it till the end of his address.

“During the last 10 months, the country has witnessed the most severe maladministration and corruption in history. No one has devastated the country or subjected the people to such mercilessness in its 72-year history.”

She said in addition health, education and CPEC, the debt taken by the former government was spent on boosting electricity production by 11,000 megawatts and building 1,800 kilometres of motorway as well as on eradication of terrorism.

PTI can’t walk the talk: Marriyum

“During the nine months of the current government, the country’s debt has skyrocketed to Rs30,000 billion. Whose pockets are being filled with the debt taken these days? One who is referred to as thief by Imran ensured inflation remained within 3% during his time, while inflation during the past nine months has shot to 10%,” said the spokesperson. “The economic growth rate during the former government was 5.8% which has slumped to just 2.5% while tax deficit has widened to Rs450 billion.”

She accused the PTI government of tearing apart the country financially during the last nine months, saying the people are praying for the return of old Pakistan.

“Your political vendetta has reached such a point that you do not even say a word on the deaths in Quetta blasts. You resorted to making a politically motivated speech full of hatred, pride and ego forgetting the martyrs of the Quetta tragedy,” she said, adding that perhaps Imran was referring to Aleema Khan, Jahangir Tareen and others on his right and left when he talked about corruption.

“I am warning the nation that a massive fraud is being committed in the name of the housing project. The poor should not invest even a single rupee in this as their money will be spent in construction of homes for Imran, Jahangir Tareen, Aleema Baji and Aneel Mussarrat. Imran is looting the country through the Rs100 billion Peshawar metro. How have Imran’s assets worth Rs600 million transformed into assets worth billions?” she said.
