PM announces soft housing loans for the poor

Inaugurates Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Quetta for low-income people

QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that commercial banks will provide soft housing loans to the low-income people for the construction of their houses.
“Having shelter over their heads is a major achievement for the poor person,” said the prime minister while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme at Arfa Kareem Randhawa Expo Centre in BUITEMS on Sunday.

PM Imran laid the foundation stone of the housing project.

Balochistan Governor Justice (retd) Amanullah Yasinzai, Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, federal ministers Zubaida Jalal and Tariq Bashir Cheema, provincial ministers, senior officials and a large number of students were in attendance.
PM Imran said, “The government will provide all help and facilities to the people in the construction of their homes as it launched Pakistan Housing Project for those who could not construct their own houses.”



He said the State Bank of Pakistan was also encouraging commercial banks to disburse more housing soft loans to the people.

By starting construction of houses, he said, around 40 industries would start production.

“Many companies from Malaysia and China are interested in investing in the housing project,” said Imran, adding that the government was determined to provide roof over the heads of the people.

Imran vowed to achieve the target of constructing five million houses in the country.
He said though his party had not won the election in Balochistan, he would still take all measures for the development of the province.

The PM pledged to take strict measures for the development of Balochistan.
He urged the youth to start their own businesses and become entrepreneurs instead of looking to the government for jobs.

Emphasising on the importance of a master plan for Quetta, the prime minister said basic civic services could be ensured only when the cities were planned and organised. “Jam Kamal and I will work for the province. Balochistan is lucky to have a chief minister like Jam Kamal Khan,” said Imran.
“Under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, 135,000 housing units will be built across the country in the first phase,” he said. “Twenty-five thousand apartments will be built in Islamabad for federal government employees and 110,000 apartments will be constructed in Balochistan, mainly for the fishermen of Gwadar.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Kamal lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Imran in resolving the issues of the province, saying “the PM is taking the provincial problems seriously”.



 

The chief minister said work on development projects was going on in full swing.

“The flawed polices and non-serious attitude of the previous governments have plagued the youth of our province with a sense of deprivation,” said the CM. “However, we have been utilising all resources at our disposal to resolve the provincial issues existing for 50 years. It is a tough challenge, but we have accepted it.”

He said the foundation stone of Pakistan Housing Scheme had been laid at an educational institution in order to directly speak to the “future of Pakistan”.

On the current issues of Balochistan, the CM said, “We have been working to devise a better economic infrastructure where people can avail all facilities.

“In today’s era, a person earning Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 can’t even think of owning a house; therefore, Prime Minister Imran launched Pakistan Housing Scheme.”

Kamal said progress on western route as well as cardiac and cancer hospitals shows the vision of PM Imran for Balochistan.
