QUETTA: As part of the provincial government’s steps to ensure that every child in the province is vaccinated against poliovirus, Quetta Division Commissioner Usman Ali Khan evaluated the arrangements made by the divisional task force for a vaccination campaign.
He instructed the deputy commissioners of Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and Quetta to supervise anti-polio campaigns and ensure that every child is vaccinated.
Qilla Abdullah Deputy Commissioner Shafqat Shahwani, Quetta Deputy Commissioner Tahir Zafar Abassi and other officials attended the meeting.
The divisional task force briefed the commissioner about the performance of polio teams and presented a report regarding the outcome of the efforts.
Commissioner Khan said that strict action would be taken against those who showed negligence in polio vaccination. “We all have to be united to free the society from poliovirus.”
He added that he would personally evaluate the polio campaign in Quetta division.

Zhob division
Calling the eradication of poliovirus the greatest challenge for the modern world, Zhob Division Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Khan Bazai has said that the government is utilising all available resources to eradicate the menace from country.
“Unfortunately, Pakistan is included in the list of those countries where transmission of polio is yet to be stopped,” he said while addressing a meeting related to the polio eradication campaign.
He added that the country had successfully stopped the virus from spreading through frequent and effective vaccination campaigns.
Additional Commissioner Mohammad Ayub, Loralai Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rehman Kakar and others were present in the meeting.
The commissioner said that polio workers faced greater challenges in Zhob due to it being a mountainous region spread over a vast area. “Owing to the change in weather, too many nomads have arrived in Zhob division, which is why it is necessary to ensure these nomads are vaccinated for the eradication of poliovirus,” he added.
During the meeting, the survey reports of every union council were presented to the commissioner and the participants provided input on the reports.
