PFA launches crackdown against food adulteration

The inspection is to ensure the supply of standard food in the market before the beginning of Ramazan

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) under the supervision of DG Muhammad Usman carried out a massive crackdown against the adulteration mafia in Rawalpindi and sealed six factories and two warehouses over multiple violations of the PFA Act.

According to a handout issued, as many as 41,905-kilogram inferior quality food, 17,728 packets of gutka and 5,442 liters spurious oil extracted from animal fat was confiscated by the PFA.

The inspection was to ensure the supply of standard food in the market before the beginning of Ramazan. According to details, the confiscated material included 17,765kg desi ghee, 6,860kg red chilli powder and 480kg red chilli pepper was seized under the PFA inspection.
