Adalat Khan, who is a resident of Gujrat, was wanted by Police Stations Dinga and Kharian in district Gujrat for two murder cases. The first case had been registered at Dinga under 302/109,34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on July 3, 2002 for the murder of one Ehsaan. The second case had been registered at Kharian, under section 302/324,148,149,427/109,6/7ATA, after Khan killed eight people at the Additional Sessions Court in 2005.
Police had requested Interpol to issue a red warrant after he had earlier managed to escape.
Khan was flying to Abu Dhabi from Lahore today (Friday) when he was identified by FIA authorities using the PISCES system.
Authorities informed the Station House Officers (SHO) of the relevant police stations, who arrived to take him into custody.
Dinga Police have Khan in custody and he will be handed over to Kharian Police after proceedings in the first case have been completed.
Seven other Pakistanis who had been deported from Greece and Italy were also arrested and their passports were seized.
