Five militants killed in Hayatabad operation identified, FIR lodged

Drone cameras, suicide jackets, bomb-making material recovered from ruble of house

PESHAWAR: Police on Thursday provided the copies of the FIR of the Hayatabad encounter to the media, describing detaile of the incident and the identities of the slain terrorists.

According to police, Firoz Shah son of Warid Khan, resident of Takhta Baig Jamrud and Tariq Khan son of Arsala Khan, resident of Qamber Khel, Khyber were identified from the CNICs recovered from the bodies. Imran from Nangarhar, Afghanistan was identified with the help of Afghan passport he was carrying.

The other two were identified through sources who recognized them as Ajmal Jani and Murad Zakir. The FIR of the incident registered by Tarara SHO Shahjahan Khan, stats that drone cameras, suicide jackets besides explosives and bomb making material was recovered from the ruble of the house demolished in the explosion following 17-hour long operation that disseminated the five alleged terrorists.

The report said that on the night of April 15, Counter Terrorism Department and security forces received information that some terrorists were hiding in a house located in Hayatabad Phase VII, where they were planning terror attacks in Pakistan.

After sharing this information with senior officers, police raided the house along with security forces and anti-terrorism force squad.

The inmates of the said house were asked to surrender, but they started firing. As a result, Anti-Terrorism Squad ASI Qamar Alam Khan was injured and later died in the hospital.

Police and security forces took position and the encounter ensued which culminated in neutralisation of the targets.
