HYDERABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry into the affairs of the dialysis centre in Civil Hospital Makli, Thatta district, which has been non-functional for some time now. A team of NAB officials visited the hospital on Thursday and checked the centre where the dialysis machines have not been installed so far.

The Sindh government has awarded a Rs560 million contract to a private company for the installation of the machines and reverse osmosis plants in several government hospitals in the province. A representative of the company informed NAB that the government has so far released 45% of the total allocated amount.

The official claimed that the company installed the machines and RO plants in hospitals in Sehwan, Thatta, Badin and Mirpurkhas from the released amount. However, the complainants had informed NAB that the company has not completely utilised the released budget. NAB summoned the private company's officials along with their complete record on April 23.
