PHC removes judge on corruption charges

The accused officer has been served with show cause notice and also heard in person

NOWSHERA: The Peshawar High Court on Friday removed Additional District and Sessions Judge Nowshera on corruption charges. According to notification issued by PHC administration, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Nowshera Additional District and Session Judge Zahid Mehmood under Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rule 2011.

PHC Legal Draftsman District and Session Judge Ahmed Sultan Tareen conducted the inquiry under prescribed procedure and rules. The accused officer was served with show cause notice and also heard in person.

The competent authority in agreement with the inquiry officer holds that the corruption charges stand proved against the accused officer and imposed a major penalty of removal from service with immediate effect.
