Pakistan qualify for polo World Cup

National team to meet India in FIP Polo Playoff Zone D final.

Pakistan have qualified for the World Cup after a superb run in the FIP Polo World Cup Playoff Zone D in Malaysia and are now set to play India in the final of the tournament.


The two teams set up their clash after beating their respective semi-final opponents at the Royal Pahang Polo Grounds.

The national team topped the table after wins over Nigeria and South Africa ahead of India who beat Australia and Malaysia. A superior goal difference handed Pakistan the top spot as they have so far scored 28 goals in the tournament and conceded 17, while second-placed India have scored 17.5 goals and given away 10.

Raja Samiullah, who has so far enjoyed a superb tournament, has been nominated for the player-of-the-championship award.

“The team’s in high spirits and is training in a dedicated manner,” team manger Abdul Qadir Khan Mamdot said in a statement. “So far the national team has remained unbeaten which proves that they have worked hard.”
