Transgenders to get first-aid training

RAWALPINDI: For the first time in the history of the country, the transgender community will be provided with first-aid training. The community wing of Rescue 1122 in Rawalpindi has decided to train around 800 people who are transgender in the first phase of their programme. For this purpose, a three-day workshop has been planned. On the first day, the theory surrounding first-aid will be taught. On the second day, practical training will be provided, including how to conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, first aid training for fire victims, revival and treatment of drowning victims, and electric shock survivors.  The training will equip members of the transgender community to help others who may be in need. For this purpose, different transgender organizations have been approached in order to attract as many people who are transgender as possible. The step has been taken after it was noted that people hesitate to give first aid treatment to any member of the transgender community in case of an emergency.
