Sindh CM directs govt to begin recruitment for 41,000 vacancies

Murad directs education minister to start the recruitment of teachers separately

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed all provincial departments to start the process for recruitment from grade one to grade 15 against the existing 41,000 vacancies on merit basis and through a transparent procedure.

This he said on Monday while presiding over a meeting that was attended by almost all the cabinet members, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Planning and Development Chairperson Mohammad Waseem and all provincial secretaries.

"I want to fill all these vacancies to improve the performance of different departments and provide employment opportunities to the deserving and eligible candidates," said the CM.

Murad said that the recruitment process of Grade 1 to Grade 4 positions would be conducted locally through selection committees in which finance and Services and General Administration representatives would be inducted.  For the recruitment of Grade 5 to Grade 15 positions, recruitments would be made through a third party testing service to ensure the integrity of the test.



The CM also directed the provincial secretaries to ensure that women and persons with disabilities are recruited against the allotted quota.

Murad directed the Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah to begin the recruitment of teachers separately.

"The recruitment of teachers must be school specific so that the shortage of the teachers can be met," he said. The education minister assured the CM that teachers' recruitment would be completed during the summer vacations. The teaching vacancies are separate from the existing 41,000 vacant positions.

Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho pointed out the shortage of doctors and said that a requisition of 1,700 doctors has been made to Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for selection. The CM said that the doctors could be appointed on a hospital-specific basis through walk-in interviews on contract. "After six months, they would be referred to SPSC for their suitability," he said.
