Relief goods dispatched to Gwadar and Pasni

The army dispatched relief goods and food items for affectees in Gwadar and Pasni on Monday.

GWADAR: The army dispatched relief goods and food items for affectees in Gwadar and Pasni on Monday.

A special C-130 aircraft of the Pakistan Airforce and two helicopters were used to deliver the goods.

Relief goods included 400 blankets, 413 pillows, 500 tents, 400 jackets and food items weighing 15,200 kg. Food items included essentials such as salt, sugar and tea along with dry milk powder and dates.

Relief items will be distributed at the camps established by the army in the area.

For further aid, additional C-130 flights carrying relief goods worth Rs10 million will be dispatched to Gwadar and Pasni in the next two to three days.

All roads in Gwadar were affected by the cyclone. 70 per cent of the houses in the city, were destroyed. Two bridges at Karwatt and Sub-Bandar, which is a major road connection, were also destroyed.


Electricity supply to the city has been cut off for four days after a poll fell near Karwatt. In some areas, water stands at five feet.


Gwadar Airport's runway is also submerged while people are busy getting water out of their houses and the people are not satisfied with governmental efforts.


There is also a shortage of food and water in the city.
