Azlan Khan wins six gold medals – and hearts at Punjab Games

LAHORE: Azlan Khan surprised everyone and made history by winning a total of six gold medals in Punjab Games held from April 3-6 in Lahore. He was also declared the best athlete and the best swimmer of the competition.

The provincial games that commenced on April 3 concluded with a prize-distribution ceremony on Saturday evening.

Azlan played an important role in making Lahore champions with his amazing performance. He bagged gold in 100 meter freestyle, 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter butterfly, 50 meter butterfly, 200 meter individual medley and 200 meter individual medley relay.

The young talent was declared the best athlete of the competition and the fastest swimmer in Punjab at the concluding ceremony. Punjab Sports Board director general Nadeem Sarwar was the chief guest at the ceremony and awarded six gold medals and trophy to Azlan.

Speaking exclusively to The Express Tribune, the champion athlete termed intense hard work as the reason behind his success. According to him, he will continue working with the same intensity in the future and achieve more successes for the country.

Azlan said his amazing feat proved that those who work hard are awarded with great successes by Allah Almighty. He said that he worked hard for the games and reaped the fruit today, adding that his next goal was to bring laurels for the province and the country at national and international level.
