Taking a hit at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz for resisting arrest, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday quoted the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that "nations are left in ruins where there is one law for the powerful and another for the weak".

The country's premier spoke out via Twitter after the Lahore High Court barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz, till April 8.

PML-N leaders quickly responded to the prime minister, accusing him of having "double standards".

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif took a swipe at the prime minister, saying that the government had razed the houses of the poor in Bani Gala while his own residence was regularised.

Former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal said the country's premier and his own cabinet enjoy complete immunity from NAB proceedings despite heavy corruption charges against them.

The high court had barred the NAB team from arresting Hamza Shehbaz till Monday, April 8. The order was passed by the LHC chief justice on a petition filed by Hamza’s lawyer.

The petition stated that NAB officials had turned up at his house with arrest warrants without any prior notice. The petition demanded the suspension of the arrest warrants and asked for action to be taken against NAB for contempt of court.

Earlier in the day, a NAB team accompanied by a contingent of police officials reached Shehbaz Sharif’s Model Town residence to arrest son Hamza in cases of owning assets beyond means.

The NAB team was faced by many PML-N supporters and eventually sought the help of Punjab Rangers as Hamza refused to surrender.
