Punjab govt directs girls schools to start earlier than boys

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Education Department has decided to slightly alter the timings of all government schools in the province.

A notification for the new timings was issued on Thursday.

According to the notification, boys’ schools will start at 8am and will continue until 1:30pm in the afternoon. On Fridays, classes will start at 7:45am and will end at 11:45am. On the other hand, girls’ schools will start at 7:30am and will continue until 1:15pm. On Fridays, the school will start at 7:30am and end at 11:30am.

Double shift boys’ schools will start at 7:30am and end at 12:30pm. The second shift will start at 1:15pm and end at 5:30pm.

Girls double shift schools will similarly start at 7:30am and end at 12:45pm. The second shift will begin at 1pm and end at 5:30pm.

In the three mountainous tehsils of Rawalpindi, including Murree, Kotli Sattiyan and Kahuta the boys’ schools start at 8:30am and end at 2pm. On Fridays, school will start at 8:30am and end at 12pm.

Girls’ schools will start at 8:15am and end at 1:45pm. On Fridays, schools will start at 8am and end at 12:45pm.
