Double Shah: NAB directed to add Rs60.45m claim

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the National Accountability Bureau to process a claim of Rs60.45 million against Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani alias Double Shah and to file a supplementary reference against him.

LHC chief justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry passed the verdict on a petition filed by Ahsanullah Ranjha. Ranjha submitted that he had approached NAB officials and asked them to add his claim to the reference filed against Gillani.

He said the NAB officials, however, declined his request. He said he had been living abroad and had contacted the NAB officials through his attorney. The petitioner also said that the NAB officials had failed to implement a 2009 ruling of the LHC directing them to entertain his claim against Gillani. Ranjha said he had given Rs60.45 million to Gillani for business. He said Gillani did not return the amount.

A NAB representative present at the court said the petitioner had never approached the bureau in connection with his claim.
