LAHORE:

Basharat Shahzad, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) deputy director, who is the investigation officer for the National Industrial Corporation Limited (NICL) land scam, on Wednesday denied Moonis Elahi’s role in the main case of Rs168 billion embezzlement.

Shahzad said that Elahi was also not directly involved in the two subsequent fraud cases of Rs320 million. He was giving his testimony before a special court for banking offences.

On Wednesday, the FIA produced Elahi before the court. Shahzad told the court that the embezzled amount had been returned to the commerce secretary.

Meanwhile, another prosecution witness Hina Rabbai, an employee of Allied Bank Limited Multan Road Branch, denied making any statement to the FIA. The court then summoned further prosecution witnesses and adjourned the case for hearing on June 28.

Hassan | 12 years ago | Reply They would have got money or some political people would have told FIA to do this. And they are doing it what else. After a few time they will say he is innocent. He did not do any thing. The innocent people of Pakistan did the NICL Scam.
