QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has directed all district administrations across Balochistan, including the capital Quetta, to launch an anti-encroachment campaign next week.

Upon directives of the chief minister, a week-long campaign will be launched across the province for which a special cell has already been established at the Chief Minister Secretariat.

The police, Levies force and other law enforcement agencies have been asked to provide assistance and security to the district administrations in executing the campaign.

Anti-encroachment: Over 180 shops sealed in Quetta

CM Kamal has directed the authorities to start the anti-encroachment week from Monday (April 8), while a public awareness campaign would also be launched in this regard.

In January, as many as 180 shops were sealed along the Double Road in Quetta by the district administration, following orders of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) to remove encroachment hindering the flow of traffic on the city’s busy streets. Meanwhile, a crackdown was also launched against illegal parking of motorcycles on footpaths on Jinnah Road. Many motorcycles were thrown into a sewerage line to clear the footpath for pedestrians.
