KARACHI: A local court, accepting the request of the investigation officer (IO), in a case pertaining to the deaths of five children and their aunt due to the inhalation of poisonous fumes, granted on Tuesday five days to submit the challan.

The IO sought more time to submit the challan, to which the court directed to present the challan at the next hearing. According to the police, Heera Nand is on bail while the remaining eight accused are in jail.

A case against the suspects was registered at the Civil Lines Police Station. The victims' father, Faisal Zaman, had come to Karachi from Quetta with his wife, Nida Faisal, and their five children to seek medical assistance for his wife. Faisal's sister, Beena Badruddin, also accompanied them on the trip during which they stayed at Qasr-e-Naz federal lodges that had been fumigated. The incident occurred on February 22.
