KARACHI: A model court acquitted Fishermen Cooperative Society former chairperson Nisar Morai, while announcing the verdict in the murder case of Pakistan Steel Mills former chairperson Sajjad Hussain, which was filed in 1998. Additional district and sessions judge Kamran Atta announced the verdict in the model court of West district. Morai was acquitted due to the absence of evidence in the case. Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Zulfiqar Mirza have already been acquitted in the case.

This is the second judgement of the model court. These courts were formed on the orders of the Supreme Court for the expeditious disposal of old murder and narcotics cases. These courts will deal with cases on a daily basis and decide matters within three months. There are six model courts established in Karachi and the first verdict of the model court came on Monday when the East district model court acquitted a suspect in a murder case due to lack of evidence by the prosecution.
