NCHD workers protest outside parliament house

The Islamabad police have arrested several workers of the National Commission for Human Development for protesting outside the Parliament House for their demands.

The government had transferred the organisation to the provinces under the 18th Amendment. But after the provinces rejected the transfer – citing lack of funds – the government decided to abolish the public organisation.

The decision is likely to affect around 16,000 workers of the organisation who are demanding the government take back its decision.

The protesters also hurled stones at the police, while the police fired shells and used tear gas to disperse them.

Several workers have been injured and the protestors have said they will continue their protest until their demand are met.
