India releases 6 Pakistani prisoners

Rreleased men had been detained for border incursion and overstaying in India after visa expiry.

LAHORE: The Government of India on Wednesday released six Pakistani prisoners, out of the expected 11 to be released, Express News reported.

The released men had been detained for border incursion and overstaying in India after visa expiry.

India handed over the six prisoners to Punjab Rangers at Wagah border. Six of the men were cleared and one, Riyaz, was detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

Those released are Muhammad Arshad, Asghar Ali, Amjad Ali, Nasrullah, Iqbal Siddiqui and Narang.

Earlier, Human Rights Activist Ansar Burney had stated that the paper work for the release of five Pakistanis detained in India for three months had been completed.
