Fahim Zaman gets pre-arrest bail

Zaman was accused of abusing and misbehaving with police officials.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court granted pre-arrest bail on Wednesday to the former city administrator Fahim Zaman against a surety of Rs50,000. The hearing of the bail plea was held in the chamber of Justice Abdul Maalik Gaddi. The former administrator, who was present, requested for bail fearing his arrest, Justice Gaddi accepted the plea and granted a 10-day bail directing him to present himself before the relevant court.

According to the case filed by police, Zaman was accused of abusing and misbehaving with police officials. He has been charged under Pakistan Penal Code Section 353 - assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and Section 504 - intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace. Zaman had threatened the police and attempted to create traffic nuisance. A case was registered on Tuesday in Civil Lines Police Station.
