Higher trade with Taiwan stressed

LAHORE: Pakistan’s share in bilateral trade with Taiwan is quite low, said the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) office-bearers. Welcoming a 17-member trade delegation from Taiwan on Monday, Senior Vice President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Vice President Faheemur Rehman Saigal stressed the need for adequate efforts to enhance export orders from Taiwan in a bid to minimise the ballooning trade deficit.

The Taiwanese delegation conducted business-to-business meetings with their Pakistani counterparts at LCCI and expressed keen interest in joint ventures. “We want business for strengthening our economy and further bolstering trade relations with Taiwan,” the office bearers added. “Such interactions have always yielded tangible results and have led to match making among like-minded business groups and companies.”

They pointed out that Pakistan was endowed with sufficient raw materials, low-cost and trained labour force, easy access for marketing to third country destinations like Central Asian Republics and Gulf states.
