Girl gang-raped in front of cousin in Layyah

The victim and her cousin were returning from a shrine when four accused intercepted them

LAYYAH: A girl was gang-raped by four accused in front of her cousin in Layyah, Express News has learnt.

Reportedly, S*, a resident of Basti Chhadar, and her cousin were on their way home on a motorcycle after visiting the shrine of Sufi Sultan Bahu.

When they reached Tail Munda Canal, they were intercepted by four accused in a car, identified as Inzamam, Asif, Ashraf and Faisal. The culprits took both victims to a forest where they gang raped S* in front of her cousin at gunpoint.

After committing the offence, the suspects fled in the vehicle, leaving the victim injured.

While speaking to Express News, Chowk Azam Police Station Investigation Officer Asmat Aman said that the girl was shifted to a hospital for medical tests. Her test reports confirmed that she was sexually assaulted, he maintained.

He added that the victim had been traumatised after the incident and the police were making efforts to arrest the suspects. He maintained the accused will be awarded stern punishment.

On March 21, a 20-year-old girl was gang-raped in Jhang.

Police said the victim had gone to the fields and while she was there, four culprits identified as Jamshed, Allah Ditta, Muhammad Sami and Imran abducted her.

The suspects took her to an abandoned place and sexually abused her.
